Tofu Breading Batter + Breadcrumbs

A flavorful batter and crispy seasoned breadcrumb coating for tofu, veggies, or anything you want to bread.

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup water, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp dijon mustard, 1 tsp maple syrup, and 1 tsp garlic powder until completely smooth.

On a plate, combine the 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 tbsp nutritional yeast, 1/2 tsp dried thyme, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Stir together until evenly mixed.

To bread: first dust your item in plain 3 tbsp all-purpose flour, then dip in the batter (let excess drip off), then coat completely in the seasoned breadcrumbs.
